Global Warming

Yesterday night I was thinking about different threats being faced by Earth. After chewing over the issue for about half an hour, I reached a conclusion that global warming is most horrible threat that Earth is facing.

Global warming can be described as the increase of the average temperature on Earth.

But, the question is why increase in temperature on Earth is attracting so much attention. It is because rising temperature is paving way for abrupt climate changes. As the Earth is getting hotter, calamities such as droughts, floods, hurricanes and forest fires are becoming more frequent.

Climate change will definitely have adverse affects on all regions of the Earth, but the worst affects will be seen in regions like the North Pole, the Amazon rainforest and world’s greatest glaciers.

As per some reports, the temperature on Earth jumped by 0.74 ± 0.18 °C between the start and the end of the 20th century.

The mentioned increase in global temperature does not seem to be that much, but the pace at which Earth is getting hotter is frightening. Records show that three hottest years occurred in the last ten years.

Increasing burning of fossil fuels such as coal and deforestation are responsible for the increasing concentration of greenhouse gases that in turn makes the Earth hotter.
