Is Arctic region really gaining back ice?

I read reports that the Arctic ice cap has gained almost the average levels of ice again, helped by the unusual weather phenomenon. The report confirming increase in Arctic ice cap was somewhat unusual as we often listen melting away of ice in such regions due to global warming.

According to figures revealed by the Met Office, the UK and some other countries witnessed the harshest winter this year since in about last thirty years. The average temperature stood at 1.6C that was 2.1C below average. The Danish Meteorological Institute also revealed highest growth in Arctic ice in the past six years.
